The Presidential SUV

Posted by Capt. On September - 25 - 2007

This SUV is how the President and other important diplomats stay safe when they are traveling through hostile territory. A mini-gun pops out of the top of the vehicle filling the air with up to 4000 rounds per minute. The mini-gun on the GMC vehicle is located on a turret to allow for a 360 field of view. Check out the video of the presidential SUV below.

Why Did the Insurgent Cross the Road?

Posted by Capt. On September - 25 - 2007

as50To get some C4 and detonators of course! US sniper divisions have been baiting insurgents into picking up planted explosive equipment. The insurgents get a rude awakening when they feel the burst of a .50 caliber sniper round from the AS50 or Barrett M107 sniper rifles.BarrettM107

“Baiting is putting an object out there that we know they will use, with the intention of destroying the enemy,” Capt. Matthew P. Didier, the leader of an elite sniper scout platoon attached to the 1st Battalion of the 501st Infantry Regiment, said in a sworn

Future Weapons

Posted by Andrew On September - 21 - 2007

Richard MackRichard Machowicz, the host of The Military Channel’s Future Weapons, probably has the best job on the planet. I mean, after 10 years in the Navy SEALS he probably got bored with all the intense training and bad ass weapons right? I guess not. Now he gets to enjoy augmented civilian status as he still has access to top secret facilities and weapons technology, which he proudly displays with cold precision on his Military/Discovery Channel show Future Weapons. Basically, “Mack” is our hero here at Future Firepower. Its not like he has a show where he just

UAV Cockpit or Video Game?

Posted by Capt. On September - 21 - 2007

Cockpit for UAVs

Although the image on the left might look like a tricked out video game setup, it actually represents Raytheon’s new approach to the UAV cockpit for the “chairforce”. Thats right, these cockpits will be constructed by the hundreds and filled with eager video game nerds turned Air Force Commandos. From within these cockpits, recruits will guide advanced aircraft with a variety of munitions into unfriendly territory to monitor and track enemy activity.

It would seem that one would be under much less pressure during a mission than if there were an actual pilot on site pulling G’s and making…

Ballistic Missile Submarines - Ohio Class Sub

Posted by Capt. On September - 21 - 2007

submarine missile The United States and British navies have some pretty incredible military technology at their disposal. One of the best strategic military technologies that the United States and their allies have developed is the ability to fire ballistic missiles from a submarine. This isn’t a particularly new technology but advances and upgrades are being made to this technology every day.  The addition of supersonic and hypersonic cruise missiles to these subs is in the pipeline. Vessels such as the Ohio class submarine, as featured in a couple Tom Clancy novels, carry Trident-II intercontinental ballistic missiles or ICBM’s. The Trident II has 8 independently targeted reentry vehicles or a MIRV setup as it is called, all of which can carry warheads to different targets. The Ohio class submarine is what makes up a lot of the United States nuclear weapons threat. The United States has 18 Ohio Class submarines in its arsenal serving as a friendly reminder to any hostile nations. Check out the video below of a British submarine with similar ICBM technology to the Ohio class fire a missile while …

Fire Scout - UAV Helicopter

Posted by Andrew On September - 13 - 2007

Manufacturer: Northrop Grumman [NYSE: NOC]
Fire Scout DisplayResearch and development dollars are obviously not an object for Northrop Grumman.  From behind closed doors emerges a UAV helicopter attack ship; no doubt the product of an intense development program.  The Fire Scout UAV is capable of autonomous take-off, landing, and flight; but of course it can be controlled remotely as well.  Likewise, I have no doubt that there has also been some engineering man hours put into enabling it for preprogrammed strike missions.  Of course they’ve already equipped some with the Metal Storm weapon, the highest round-per-second gun ever built, mounted on…

Bomb Iran Plan

Posted by Andrew On September - 13 - 2007

Air PowerIn recent days, the Bush Administration has revealed that it has began to draw up plans to bomb Iran. With a target list of up to 1200 facilities, the Pentagon estimates that it would take around 3 days of continuous day and night bombing raids to accomplish the task. The raids though, are not intended to solely focus on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Iranian military must go too. This hard decision was made because, not so ironically, of the US presence in Iraq. With American bombs falling every minute across the…

The term was originally used by the military to describe elite units, such as Special Forces, that could be used to increase the effectiveness of indigenous forces by training them to fight guerilla warfare, but the term has broadened in usage and is now used frequently outside the military domain.
