YAL-1A Airborne Laser

The Airborne Laser is without a doubt a revolutionary weapon that will change the way battles are fought and Nations are protected. The proliferation of ballistic weapons systems has prompted military officials to persue an airborne weapons system capable of defeating ballistic missiles long before they become a threat to their intended target. The YAL-1A Airborne laser (ABL) comes in the form of a Boeing 747-400F and uses infrared to detect threats while using a directive energy weapon to explode the missiles gas tank.

Mobile Tactical High Energy Laser

Similar to the Airborne laser, the MTHEL or Mobile High Tactical Energy Laser is another directive energy weapon used mainly to take out smaller threats such as Katyusha and Qassam rockets used by groups such as Hezbollah. Further testing is being done with this directive energy laser to evaluate whether it may be able to take out aerial threats such as ballistic missiles and even incoming aircraft. CBU-97 sensor-fuzed weapon

The CBU-97 Sensor Fuzed Weapon is simply a revolutionary type of weapon capable of taking out a complete armored division. The enemy quivers at the though of one of these cluster bombs raining upon them. This incredible weapon is capable of destroying over 40 armored vehicles with its explosively formed penetrator that blasts molten copper through even the most advanced armor technologies. Railguns

Railguns give the military the ability to fire inexpensive non explosive projectiles at a much higher velocity than traditional ballistic missiles. At only a fraction of the size of a tomahawk missile, railgun projectiles will be able to deliver a much more devastating payload much more quickly. Railgun projectiles will be capable of reaching speeds of 3 Kilometers a second which would allow a small 2 KG projectile to penetrate a tank and imobilize its crew. Railgun Technology has been in research and development of the United states navy for several years. Recently railguns have been successfully tested although some minor kinks are still holding back their full scale production. Military officials estimate that the new weapons systems will be in service in the year 2020. The Reaper aircraft AKA MQ9 Reaper

If you are a regular visitor here at Future Firepower you know all about the incredible Reaper unmanned Aerial Vehicle. This unmanned aircraft is assisting U.S and British forces and other allies in Iraq as I speak to you today. This aircraft is an enhancement of the predator UAV and carries 14 deadly accurate hellfire missiles and can fly at an altitude of 50,000 feet for long periods of time. The Aircraft is about the size of an A-10 Thunderbolt and is known as a hunter killer UAV aircraft.
