Al-Qaeda Jihad Propaganda from Iraq

Jihad OnlineOn NPR recently there was a piece about the propaganda war taking place as a part of the War on Terror. The focus was on how NPRs correspondent believes that the US is losing the media War on Terror, but that new efforts are being made by the US military to counter this phenomenon. Official spokesmen for the military are paid daily to surf the net for subversive remarks about the United States and the West and to reply to these posts in-kind, educating those that are ignorant, misled, radical, or just plain wrong about the US’s view of the War on Terror, Islamic Radicalism, and other issues with current US foreign policy.
NPR also went on to describe some of the videos being released by groups in Iraq such as Islamic Jihad, Al-Qaeda, and the Mehdi Army. These videos were described on NPR as rivaling media releases from the Pentagon; with slick computer graphics and themed music pieces. Having heard all of this, the next step was to see exactly what NPR was talking about and watch the videos for myself to make my own comparison.
The videos are horrendous. Set to the backdrop of eerie Iraqi songs, which sound like tribal chanting, the videos typically depict scenes of IED ambushes, sniper attacks, and RPG attacks. The videos are intended to be recruiting mechanisms for the terrorist groups that produce them and a call to jihad, and perhaps they serve this purpose. However though, nearly every attack carried out by these cowardly terrorists only hurt one or a few soldiers, and often kill many other civilians. If the Iraqi audience for these terrorist recruiting videos came to my site or any other like it, they would witness that they are clearly on the losing end. Jihad
So who really is losing the media war on terror? Not only are the terrorists unable to inflict massive and/or precise attacks on the scale that the US can, they must do so in the most self-emasculating and heinous forms. IEDs planted in dead bodies on the side of the road, shooting a soldier in the back while he’s on foot patrol, and other simply unworthy acts do not represent a solid call to duty for Iraqis or any Muslim people. When Muslims follow these examples they only serve to lessen themselves in the eyes of the world, their enemies, and even their more proud Muslim brothers.
I urge any Muslim that reads this to take heed, watch some videos on my site, and even watch your own propaganda videos and then decide: on which receiving end of the firepower would you rather be on? Western technology, government structure, and innovations can only serve to help the stricken Iraqi people. If the coalition stays in Iraq, which they will in one form or another; the Iraqis should take note and help us help them by respectfully admitting defeat and accepting their offer of the best salvation they may ever have. Because an Iraq devoid of American securities will be a desolate, dangerous, and violent place.

  1. Joe Said,

Very Nicely Said. I can’t stand those cowardly jihad promotional videos. I refuse to watch them.
