In recent days, the Bush Administration has revealed that it has began to draw up plans to bomb Iran. With a target list of up to 1200 facilities, the Pentagon estimates that it would take around 3 days of continuous day and night bombing raids to accomplish the task. The raids though, are not intended to solely focus on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Iranian military must go too. This hard decision was made because, not so ironically, of the US presence in Iraq. With American bombs falling every minute across the country, the Iranian’s best course of retaliation would be to attempt an attack into Iraq against the Americans, which the US is simply not postured to deal with. Of course they would get ready before the bombing began, but dealing with the insurgents and the Iranian military would be a little bit too much on the US military’s plate.
Even if the bombing doesn’t actually happen, I believe that the very announcement of the plan constitutes a psychological attack on the portion of Iran’s population involved with their nuclear program and military. Each one of those people knows good and well that the Americans are very capable of pulling off the complete attack, and that George Bush is likely not bluffing. These facts combined essentially means that they now must fear for their lives, and any day that they go to work may be their last. Hopefully this extreme pressure on them might make them question the collision course that their dear leader Ahmadinejad has set for their nation. The Iranians are a sophisticated people, and the youth of the nation respect the technological advances of the west that are constantly denied to them by their disconnected and backwards leaders. Ideally, they will recognize the bleakness of their future if they decide not to change with the times, and hopefully the US won’t have to punish them for not seeing straight.

Yet US can make quick and big destruction in many areas in Iran but I assure you that US will fail in long, unlimited, bloody and expensive war. Iran will start moving its longs arms in the middle east and go into years of attacking US troops and making the whole land under US army on fire. There is large number of people supporting Iran in the gulf and those people can be armed by Iran. Oil prices will fly and will reach 3 digits. The whole world economy will suffer and more countries will get involved into this complication which results in pressure on Americans to stop the war but it is no more their decision. They can start it but Americans will not be able to stop it. It is Iranian’s decision will be.

Iran will fight back against any US lead attack. but they will be punished over and over again. They may use insurgents / terrorist attacks to get back at the attacking force in both the mid-east and in more local zones. but again, they will be hit again and again. Submission may take time, but they will lose. the number of states now reported to be now considering force against Iran is growing.
Iran is playing a dangerous game, which it may live to regret. It will not be easy, but Iraqi went. As long as the US does not get into the game of State building again.

people overestimate iran, their top technology is what we abandoned in the 60-70s and their own people hate the iranian govt and military, also the fact that they have no money, no capabilities and the talk of causing another greater insurgency is just weak minded threats to try to warn an overwhelming power. when the whole middle east suffers because of irans ignorance and stone age mentality the so called insurgency will turn on the iranian leaders not the US.
basically iran could easilly be beaten in 2-3 days with probably zero US casualtys

Look American egos are really going destroy this country if they think that they are going to just go in and bomb Iran with no political and economical repercussions from other country even so called allies. There is an estimated 1.3 to 1.8 billion Muslim population in this world. You honestly think that attacking another middle eastern country will not provoke more anti western way of thinking. With China and Russia refusing to get behind the US and the UN right now what do you think they will say to a bombing of an ally. Considering both of these countries hold nuclear weapons China having the third largest nuclear warhead stockpile with Russia the second largest in the world a nuclear bomb is out of the question with Iran. And China having the worlds largest army by size and even by 2020 China will have the worlds largest navy is no laughing matter. The only good thing about that whole thing is that its disorganized and their equipment is outdated but that is changing by the day. But the worst thing they could do is not bomb back but stop exporting the the US. I don’t know if anyone continues to look at tags anymore but a majority of our daily goods do come from China. If they were to impose any kind of trade ban with us it would cripple us. Goods that are cheap now are because they are able to be produced cheaper in Asian countries by labor costs and few environmental watchdogs to raise hell when they destroy the environment. If they impose restrictions watch out it will be a recession if not depression in the US economy. We also have to look at fact that the more wars we are in the more people will hate us. Venezuela has been building up a army for years now and guess who is one of their closest allies supplying their military, Russia. Don’t forget the real reason we can’t attack is oil disruption to the US and the world. The reason we haven’t bombed Iran is because the US cannot afford to. If anyone thinks I am not patriotic I had one grandfather in Korea(Army), my brother in-law was in Iraq(Marines) along with a cousin of mine(Army), my older sister was a Marine for 4 years and works now in the private sector with the army corp of engineers and I will be leaving for Marine boot camp in South Carolina this summer.

Yes, we are America and we are big and strong, we have said and demonstrated this time and time again. With that said bombing Iran is about the dumbest thing we could do right now. They are not a threat to us at the moment The youth are pushed to the wall and they want change and want it bad. Give the new generation a chance to make a change. We bomb them and we have at least another two generations of enemies in Iran. Leave them alone and in a decade we will have normalized relations with the up and comers.
Bomb them and watch us get in a nuclear pissing match with China and Russia. Don’t bomb and have a trading partner. The worst that can happen is they try to launch a nuke later on and one of the permanently based Virginia Class Subs has a Neutron weenie roast.
Who knows If the neocons wait long enough they can use a antimatter weapon. (know the old saying good things come to those who wait. A neocon warmonger that waits long enough gets to reap the benefit of another deal made with the Satanand bring us one step closer to Armageddon.

Same predictions where with bombing of Serbia. 3 days of bombing and all is over. Army will be destroyed and all gone, we can walk around like we want.
Bombing lasted 78 days, only things what US destroyed are good relationships with Serbs and economical infrastructure of one European country. Army was untouched (14 tanks and some junk, only lose where some Migs 29 and only because Serbia had 14).

Right, we’ve been saying that for 20 years… We’ve been relying on it for the past decade. It ain’t happening.

Gimme a break! Russia? They can barely service their vehicles. Even if they could they are fielding a dilipidated force of mostly obselete JUNK. Look at how easily the USA took out Iraqi armour in the first Gulf War. HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET! SADDAM HUSSEIN HAD THE 4TH LARGEST ARMY IN THE WORLD!
The T-72, T-80 and T-90 fielded by Russia are NO MATCH for Abrams, not to mention the Merkava (now w/ Trophy Protection System, only G*d knows why the USA isn’t picking this system up!). They are alittle better on planes, esp. the SU series, but these don’t stack up against the F22. The IAF would also be in the air and they are the best pilots in the world (highest number of aces per capita)
As for Iran, their Air-Force is INSIGNIFIGANT. They are trying to build it up now (with their increased oil revenues) with more modern machines but it takes many years to build a modern air force with well skilled pilots.
They’re tanks are upgraded T-72s but that is not a fair fight for the Merkava and LAHAT missles.
What Iran can and will do is lob thousands of missles at Israel and Iraq. This will be the ultimate test of the Arrow2 & Patriot3 missles. They will also launch terror attacks throughout the world. In terms of Fedayeen and indiscriminate killing they can do some damage but in conventional war? Gimme a break.
Iran is destabilizing the region and the world. They are occupying Southern Lebanon with Hezbollah and killing CHristians. They attack Israel (5 years after Israel LEFT ALL OF LEBANON!), then retreat to CHristian Villages (like Bint Jbil), causing massive collatoral damage (under International Law, he who uses human shields is culpable for their deaths). Iran funds and arms the insurgency in Iraq. Iran massacres its own people, killing homosexuals, dissidents, Christians. Iran has called for THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL.
Like Iraq, Iran is sending out invitations for its own demise. Persians – wake up – if you don’t put an end to Ahmadijad today then somebody else will have to do it tommorrow. At the end of the day it is YOU who are responsible for the dictators in your country. It is high time you took responsibility.

We should first start by bombing their nuclear facilities. After that we should disable their air force and missile capabilities. After that all we need to do is send in a joint Israeli and USMC Force to quickly take Tehran. We can capture Ahmadinejad and put most of the government on trial. All we need is for them to attack Israel first… Otherwise this would not work.
