You've got to look at many factors to decide this one. NUMBERS is a HUGE ISSUE. The argu-
ment about quantity is important when large geographic areas are at play. The US decision to
go to the Abrams design was smart BUT the choice of a Turbine GAS HOG (with accompany-
ing Heat Signature) was not- a 40+ mph (and reliable sources say MUCH Faster) Tank is a
Questionable decsion- 3 gallons per mile!!! We must also consider COST. I'm seeing/hearing
$4+ million per copy for an Abrams- I have no info on Maintenance. With vastly inferior num-
bers, even with German Leo 2's, we would be Extremely hard-pressed to confront the vast
Russian #'s. Don't forget, each Abrams and Leo 2 only carries a limited ammo load, and I
doubt the Russians will fight as poorly and deploy as poorly as the Iraqi Army. Just like Hitler,
if you rely on a "Super Weapon" you will lose! You would think that as we've worked to im-
prove our weapons systems we would also work to reduce costs AND to simplify design while
also improving reliability- I think FUEL CONSUMPTION falls in there somewhere.

BIG DADDY, that may have been true of the M1-A1, not true of the A2. The M1-A2 possesses very sophisticated command & control systems for coordinating live fire scenarios. There is still no better Tank than the M1-A2, the advantage goes to the American MBT designers simply due to the extensive number of battle fighting hours their machine has encountered. Testing is important, but live fire is where it counts./

Who ever wrote this article is an idiot. the companies in Germany design and manufacture many American armor. The 120mm gun of the Abrams and modular replacement parts is from the designs of the leopard and similar tanks. If any one is knowledgeable at all about warfare, they would know Germany arguably makes the best military weapons.

I never saw any Leapords II...
Which Canadian tank devision got them?
And It bothers me when people say they can preform against farmers etc..
Look at chinese and Russian Technology...
If there was a conflict, one on one, The western Tanks would win, without a doubt...
But look at world war II
Althought the Germans had superior tanks, the US overwhelmed them with the larger amount of Shermans....
In a real life senario, western tanks would be more like the tigers, and the evil communist tanks would be like the shermans...
Non the less, the west would previal, most chinese and Russian technology is out dated... Cold war era crap, nothing worth sweating over...
Look at how the Challenger II, M1 Abrahms and Lepord II's armour is constructed, its not a fair fight...

I know that the LeClerc is meant to have very good computer networking technology that allows great communication between tanks - both voice and data. Unlike the M1-A1, that had to have networking added after the fact, the LeClerc was built with this in mind. Keep in mind that of all the Western tanks, the LeClerc is the newest design and benefits from that.
