Alas boys, I’m afraid you all need to grow up a bit. This adoration of the tools of war is more than a bit misplaced. True patriots are willing to fight and die for their country however reluctantly in knowing the enormous costs in death and destruction war inevitably brings.

We may hate war but the tools used to conduct wars will be forever glorified. The Apache gunship is a damned impressive machine both for how it looks and what it can do. Let’s not forget though that its sole purpose is to destroy.

To see in this video the Apache instead vaporize a tree our a rusted out car or something inanimate would most likely leave the above commentators with little or nothing to say. Which would probably be a good thing.

No matter the weapon, no matter the time, the most deadly thing to man is man itself. Only we can come up with the ways of killing each other that we do. The day when something else bigger comes along, we will attempt to make bigger weapons still to destroy them.

Attacks on Coalition forces aren’t terrorist acts. The war is an illegal imperialist enterprise; indigenous armed resistance is thus legitimate. “Terrorist” is a label that is slapped onto anyone who resists the invasion forces, whether or not they are also engaged in attacks on civilians. There are some twelve major insurgent groups in Iraq sharing some converging goals (expelling the occupiers of their land) and some differing goals. Some are engaged in terrorism, some aren’t. All are engaged in attacking foreign occupiers, which is NOT illegal.

A demonstrable falsehood. The war was never about bringing freedom to anyone, and you know it.

Right, except of course when official enemies are doing it. Then it becomes imperative to “whine” (as people like you can be counted on to do). When your side commits it, though, we are all supposed to line up behind the Dear Leader (as befits a free country, after all) and act like commissars, extolling the party line that assumes the whole enterprise is being done with pure intentions. It’s exceedingly difficult for the trained commissar to appreciate any of this, though it’s perfectly within the grasp of anyone who hasn’t completely lost their senses.

I must have missed the part where Iraq invaded the United States.

US Army operate the Apache as its attack helicopter, the USMC fields the dated Super Cobra.

The Marines don’t use the Apache series, instead they operate the Super Cobra which has the older three-barreled rotary M197 20mm cannon.

Of course not, as long as it’s in someone else’s country.
